Story of Shri Krishna and Sudama

Sudama and Shri Krishna were childhood friends and both studied together. Sudama was very poor. He was a Brahmin, so he used to feed himself and his family by begging from 5 houses throughout the day. He used to survive with whatever he got. But the alms received were not enough for him. Even he and his family could not stomach it. Hospitality was also done through this alms.

Sudama’s wife knew that Sudama and Shri Krishna were friends. Shri Krishna is the Maharaja of Dwarka. If Sudama asks for help from him, he will never say no. Therefore, Sudama’s wife asked Sudama many times to go to Dwarka to meet Shri Krishna but Sudama refused every time. But after much sightseeing, Sudama agrees and leaves for Dwarka. At that time he had no means. He was moving towards Dwarka on his own feet. Full of hesitation and shame he set out towards Dwarka.

After walking a long distance he finds a bullock cart on the way. On which a lot of goods were loaded for trade. Murari convinced Sudama to go to Dwarka. Sitting in the car, both of them reached Dwarka. As soon as he reached there, the bullock cart driver told Sudama that your path is different from here and mine is different. After walking ahead, Sudama came back from there and thought that he would come back after thanking the cart driver.

When Sudama went behind the temple to thank him, there was no bullock cart and no Murari there. He was not able to understand anything, he was thinking that a moment ago he was talking to Murari.
